SEXUAL ABUSE/ASSAULT OF CHILDREN

Warning Signs for Child Sexual Abuse:

Ø  Nightmares, trouble sleeping, fear of the dark, of other sleeping problems

Ø  Extreme fear of "monsters"

Ø  Spacing out at odd times

Ø  Loss of appetite or trouble eating or swallowing

Ø  Sudden mood swings including rage, fear, anger or withdrawal

Ø  Fear of certain people or places

Ø  Stomach illness all of the time with no identifiable reason

Ø  An older child behaving like a younger child, such as bedwetting or thumb sucking

Ø  Sexual activities with toys or other children

Ø  New words for private body parts

Ø  Refusing to talk about a "secret" he/she has with an adult or older child

Ø  Talking about a new older friend

Ø  Suddenly having money

Ø  Cutting or burning him/herself as an adolescent
