           Nurturing Parenting Programs

 Provides family-based programs for treating and preventing child abuse and neglect.  Classes include:

          Crianza con Cariño

          Program for Hispanic parents, infants, toddlers, preschoolers and school-age children.

          Parents and Their Infants, Toddlers and Preschoolers

Offers a 48-session, home-based program to help parents recognize and understand feelings, learn about infant and child development, nurturing parenting routines, alternatives to hitting and effective non-violent discipline.

          Parents and Their School-Age Children 5-11 Years

Offers a 15-session, group-based program where parents and children learn about empathy, appropriate behaviors, rewards and punishments, praise and self-esteem, non-violent discipline and ways to have fun as a family.

          Parents in Substance Abuse Treatment and Recovery

Psycho-educational, group-based program assists parents with their own recovery, recovery within their families and in building a nurturing family lifestyle.

Provides short-term counseling, intervention referral and case management services to the habitually truant, runaways and ungovernable children, to assist in breaking the cycle of negative behavior and increase resiliency and self-efficacy.  Targeted to youth who are most likely to become adjudicated delinquents and who reside in the zip code areas with the highest number of delinquency referrals.

          Family Intervention Program

Short-term, intensive case management services to improve family functioning by addressing immediate needs of children at imminent risk of being removed from their homes by the Broward Sheriff’s Office Child Protective Investigator team.  Families are referred from the Child Protective Team or Henderson’s Family Team for voluntary participation.

          Family Strengthening Program

Short-term (12-weeks to 6 months) intensive case management services to families in Deerfield Beach, N. Pompano Beach and unincorporated N. Broward County.

Referrals from Childnet, BSO, schools and other organizations for voluntary participation.

          Residential Group Homes

Provides 24-hour supervision, individual and group counseling, service planning, treatment teams, social skills, independent living skills, case planning, educational support, support services and after care services in a long-term residential group home for teen boys and girls 12-17 years.

          Transition to Productive Young Adulthood

Provides support services to adolescents aging out of foster care. Targets youth 16+ years who are current or eligible participants in the State of Florida’s Independent Living Program and provides training for emotional and practical preparation for leaving foster care, development of a support network, career preparation/education planning, development of a “life toolbox” and ongoing life coaching.
